Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator. The Coordinator of Staff Recruitment and Selection reports to the Assistant Director of Staff Recruitment and Student Leadership Development, and is responsible for the recruitment and selection of 300 graduate and undergraduate members working in the Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway residence halls. For Rutgers to compete for the top ranking New Jersey and out of state students, we need to be able to showcase the desirability and impact of residential living on the life and education of Rutgers students who live on campus. Further, in a department which recruits staff nationally, there is a cyclical effect of a good national reputation which will bring high quality staff to Rutgers and in turn make the program even better. The quality of the Residence Life program is directly correlated with the quality, ability and impact of the personnel of the department.
Among the key duties of this position are:
  • The coordination of student staff recruitment and student staff selection processes. Our greatest resource in Rutgers Residence Life is our staff; they offer capital in the areas of knowledge, experience, skill sets and expertise.
  • Responsible for all graduate and undergraduate selection processes; tracking candidate information, creating and maintaining selection databases, organizing and hosting informational sessions and serving as the primary communicator for all residence life candidates. It is expected for the Coordinator to be skilled in the actual . In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for disseminating necessary university and department policies, instructions and changes to the selection process. The Coordinator will assist in the completion of new initiatives, special projects, and work needed to meet the goals of Rutgers Residence Life.
  • Conducts candidate screening, interviews, scheduling, and strong communication with both candidates and interviewers
  • Lead in professional staff searches where needed.
  • Lead and coordinate the on-going evaluation process for all the selection programs, as well as lead and coordinate the undergraduate and graduate performance appraisal process.
  • Lead the updating of staff manuals, in addition to the creation and dissemination of all staff recruitment materials.
  • Chair and oversee the Student Staff Selection Committee and projects and initiatives that are created and implemented within the committee work.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.  Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility .  Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine .  Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of full-time experience complementary/related to Residence Life or Housing.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A demonstrated ability to work with diverse students and staff, experience implementing and facilitating recruitment and selection programs, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and manage several responsibilities at the same time.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive, collaborative working relationships.
  • Conducting candidate screening, interviews, scheduling, and strong communication with both candidates and interviewers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Student Affairs/Higher Education; Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills involving staff recruitment and selection is preferred.
