Nature of Work
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Senior Professional Research Assistant (Sr.PRA) within the Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center. The primary duties of the position will be as project manager for multiple NIH-funded studies, including clinical trials and/or observational cohort studies. These studies will be conducted in partnership with Denver Health. This position will work on the UCD Anschutz Medical Campus located in Aurora, CO and supervise staff at this location. The incumbent will be expected to travel frequently (1 or more trips/week) to Denver Health to support study activities occurring there.
 
The LEAD Center  is a groundbreaking research center that investigates and seeks to understand the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complex interplay of environmental exposures, genetic and epigenetic processes in critical developmental periods in across the lifecourse. LEAD scientists work with data from multiple human cohort studies housed within the Center (Healthy Start, Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes [ECHO], Exploring Perinatal Outcomes among Children [EPOCH], SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth, Diabetes in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults [DiCAYA], and Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study [DPPOS]).

Supervision Received : This position reports directly to Dr. Anna Bellatorre, Assistant Director for Data Operations at the LEAD Center. The person in this position will also work closely with Dr. Katherine Sauder, Deputy Director for the LEAD Center and Associate Professor of Pediatrics, who is Principal Investigator of the studies.
 
Supervision Exercised : This position will supervise a team of 2-6 professional research assistants located at the Anschutz Medical Campus.
 
Examples of Work Performed
Primary duties include:

  • Organize and oversee on-going training of the PRAs in study protocol

  • Coordinate the recruitment and eligibility screening activities, in collaboration with Denver Health partners as appropriate.

  • Coordinate the implementation of the intervention and control programs, in collaboration with Denver Health partners as appropriate.

  • Ensure proper data collection at study visits.

  • Prepare protocol and amendment submissions for institutional review boards, partnering institutions, data and safety monitoring boards, and the NIH.

  • Act as the point of contact with collaborators at Denver Health and other institutions, as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and with little daily oversight.

  • Ability to build an effective work team of individuals.

  • Strong communication skills to facilitate inter-institutional collaborations.

  • Knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

 
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position has been established at $55,000-$80,000 and is commensurate with experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, rank, internal equity, experience, education, and area of expertise. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications

 
 
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in clinical science, epidemiology, public health or related field.

  •  3 years’ research experience in maternal health, child health, diabetes, or obesity.

  •  3 years’ experience working as a project manager or coordinator with epidemiological and/or clinical research.

  • Prior supervisory experience

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing budgets and expenditures.

  • Familiarity with UCD financial  systems (MarketPlace, mFIN)

  • Bilingual Spanish speaker

  • Experience working in multi-site, national studies
