The Senior Professional Research Assistant will join the Carlton Research Group and the Colorado COVID-19 Modeling Group. The Carlton Research Group is a multi-disciplinary team working to improve infectious disease surveillance tools and understand how social and environmental conditions, from climate change to urbanization, impact the spread of infectious diseases. The Colorado COVID-19 modeling group works closely with state and local government to model the course of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and inform policy-making. This is an opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team including biostatisticians, epidemiologists, mathematicians, infectious disease modelers and economists and to collaborate with state and local health officials to inform COVID-19 response in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West. The team places a strong emphasis on innovative, collaborative research and the communication of analyses to stakeholders.

The primary focus of this position will be contributing to the development of modeling tools, data visualizations, reports and presentations about SARS-CoV-2 for the Rocky Mountain West. Activities will also include working to engage stakeholders and ensure effective communication to public health officials and the public. The Senior Professional Research Assistant will support other projects as needing, including research to improve surveillance and control of schistosomiasis in residual transmission hotspots and efforts to determine the impact of climate change on water-borne diseases.

The Colorado School of Public Health is a collaborative endeavor involving the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Collaboratively formed in 2008 by CU Denver, CSU and UNC, the Colorado School of Public Health provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, and costly injuries.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is the only comprehensive academic health sciences center in Colorado, the largest academic health center in the Rocky Mountain region and one of the newest education, research and patient care facilities in the world.
