School of Engineering, Stanford Nanofabrication Facility

Stanford Engineering has been at the forefront of innovation for nearly a century, creating pivotal technologies that have transformed the worlds of information technology, communications, health care, energy, business and beyond. Our faculty and students are creative risk-takers who pursue excellence across a breadth of disciplines. Our alumni include some of the world's most successful leaders in technology and business. Our staff are critical to enabling Stanford Engineering to accomplish its mission: seeking solutions to some of the world's most urgent challenges and educating leaders who will make the world a better place through the power of engineering principles, techniques and systems.

The Stanford Nanofabrication Facility (SNF) provides equipment and expertise in nanoscale science and engineering to researchers at Stanford and beyond -- from academic, industrial, and government labs across the US and around the globe. In 2019, nearly 600 researchers made use of SNF, in applications ranging from medicine and biology to fundamental physics and astronomy. More than a set of labs, it is a vibrant research community.

We seek an energetic technologist to shape our device fabrication capabilities to meet evolving technical needs of our research community.  As a successful candidate, you have a strong technical background across a broad range of device processing and equipment, with deep experience in the deposition of conventional and novel materials using ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition), PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition), and other methods.   You will have a love of teaching and an abiding belief in the Maker ethos of sharing.  You thrive on building things: a research device, an etching widget, a short course on fabrication technologies. • Provide leadership and scientific expertise in managing deposition process and knowledge resources to support our world-class researchers.
