Summary of Position
The Senior Policy Analyst supports The Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire in its research activities. Specifically, this position collaborates with the team, outside consultants, and partners to conduct and/or translate research relevant to policymakers, practitioners, and advocates at both state and national levels.
This position utilizes large, nationally-representative datasets for tracking social trends over time, making comparisons between places and demographic groups, and assessing the impact of new or potential policies. Develops new qualitative and quantitative research instruments; locates, cleans, and structures sources of administrative data for analysis; and undertakes complex data matching efforts. Research will be collaborative, but the position regularly engages in self-directed, independent activities around the design, organization, diagnostics, and presentation of research.
Serves as the primary contact for questions related to specific projects and their related data, including for external stakeholders and project staff. Internally, this position requires coordination with the team for conducting immediate and long-term research, and regularly provides guidance to project staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students as required.

Other minimum qualifications
  • Master’s degree in public policy, economics, sociology, or related field
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills
  • Experience with statistical packages, including Stata
  • Strong data management skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with and writing for a policy audience and presenting data in a variety of graphic formats, including Tableau, would be beneficial.
