Position Summary:

We are searching for an Senior Payroll Coordinator who is interested in taking on a variety of duties and can work cross-functionally with multiple departments.

The position is responsible for the daily duties of the payroll office and will act a resource and provide leadership to the payroll specialists and coordinators. Perform or oversee duties necessary for accurate payroll processing, records maintenance, and distribution of payment and withheld monies to all stakeholders both internal and external.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources, or related field. Education may be substituted with 5+ years of in-house payroll processing experience, which includes using Ellucian Banner or equivalent ERP software to compute paychecks, filing and remitting payroll taxes either in-house or third party administrator, and issuing w-2s
• In-house payroll processing experience
• Willingness to obtain FPP certification
• Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures
• Ability to prepare detailed reports
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of the practice, methods and techniques of process improvements
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Ability to lead the work activities of others

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• MBA or other advanced degree
• Payroll Certification FPP or CPP
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines including, but not limited to: garnishments, child support, tax levies, subpoenas, non-resident alien and U.S. tax treaties
• 5+ years of in-house payroll processing experience
• 3+ years of experience with Ellucian Banner ERP HR module
• Experience with Cognos reporting tool
• Experience with Time Clock Plus timekeeping software
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint timekeeping software
• Experience with Higher Education payroll processing
• Demonstrated ability to assess and optimize payroll business processes
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
