A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education.

The College of Dentistry is looking for a Senior Medical Transcriptionist to serve as a member of the Diagnostic Sciences team. Job Summary: The Senior Medical Transcriptionist, under general supervision, performs technical clerical work in transcribing medical/laboratory cases and serves as liaison between medical facilities and clients.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in medical transcribing.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Responsibilities:

  • Transcription of dictated or emailed determinations of specimens processed into specified report.
  • Collecting, entering information into database and preparing for doctors for processing all specimens
  • Receives and logs in medical specimens, prepares documents and specimens for gross examination.
  • Faxing and e-mailing reports to clinicians, including phone support
  • Administrative Support
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
