Position Description:

The Senior Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the University of Louisville Golf Club.  Club operations include sales and marketing, member relations and services, financial administration, human resources, programming and event planning, and facility management and maintenance. The Senior Manager's primary purpose is to assure all functions are coordinated to exceed ULAA and member expectations while achieving revenue objectives.  The Senior Manager will be responsible for the direction and continuous growth of ULGC. This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Capital Projects and Administration.

Job Responsibilities:

Member Relations and Services

  • Establish a culture of high performance customer service.
  • Proactively investigate and identify dissatisfaction by soliciting feedback from members.
  • Personally handle serious member complaints/concerns to ensure issues are resolved to the member's satisfaction; interview resigning members to assess their reasons for departure.
Financial Administration
  • Report to and collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director of Capital Projects and Administration on the development, implementation, and control of the ULGC budget and financial plan.
  • Monitor short- and long-term performance according to financial plan/budget on a consistent basis by working closely with the ULGC Controller.
  • Take appropriate action to assure expected revenues are realized from each club operation area.
Programming and Event Planning
  • Effectively market ULGC as a first-class venue to host events.
  • Plan the ULGC event calendar for the year (e.g., golf scrambles, weddings, banquets, corporate outings, etc.) and coordinate staffing for events as needed.
Facility Management and Maintenance
  • Attentive to all facility operations and ensure assets and equipment are well-maintained.
  • Enforce safety rules for employees, members, and guests.
Sales and Marketing
  • Develop a strategic sales plan for ULGC to increase revenue.
  • Collaborate with ULAA staff to implement an aggressive marketing plan.
Leadership
  • Train, develop and evaluate staff to perform at a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Hold all unit heads accountable for providing regular feedback to employees.
Food & Beverage
  • Oversee Head Chef and Hospitality Manager to ensure high quality dining and food beverage experience for members and guests.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in General Manager role at a golf club.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of golf course food and beverage operations.
  • Knowledge and/or experience using Jonas Club Management software and/or EasySuite software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of experience in senior management at a private golf course.
  • Proven management skills including coaching and mentoring staff and communicating with indirect reports.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in golf course financial reporting and budget analysis.
  • Effective administrative and organizational skills and ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and projects according to deadlines.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
