Summary

This position manages and strategizes operations for internal and/or external scientific and translational communications to contribute to scientific and clinical advancement and recruitment efforts of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC), working with the Office of Communications and Community Outreach. It will also manage ongoing initiatives while developing new channels for communication, leveraging experience with new technologies.


Job Duties
  • Leads a cross departmental team of communications associates and specialist to create a Cancer centric communications platform.
  • Coordinates multi-investigator grant submissions for the Cancer Center.
  • Reviews a variety of medical writing deliverables, including grants, journal articles and abstracts for scientific meetings.
  • Takes responsibility for cohesive editorial style through training from the Office of Communications and Community Outreach and other Cancer Center members, and the creation of a library of educational writing resources for faculty and students.
  • Develops strategic communication plans with Center leadership and the Office of Communications and Community Outreach.
  • Identifies vendors for philanthropic initiatives.
  • Manages and creates Cancer specific communication plan details for the college.
  • Develops various communications sent throughout the cross departmental membership of the DLDCCC.
  • Serves as Liaison to the marketing/PR team.
  • Organizes, coordinates and facilitates patients for Foundation events, programs, campaigns, photo shoots, and communication materials, following HIPAA regulations and working with Office of Communications and Community Outreach as needed.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing, planning, developing and maintaining creative initiatives and campaigns, and leading and managing a cross departmental team in ensuring that these efforts are on strategy, on time and on budget, and in keeping with Baylor College of Medicine’s overall institutional goals for Comprehensive Cancer Center designation.
  • Provides leadership role in developing team members to become active and successful in both fulfilling Baylor College of Medicine’s needs and objectives, as well as developing their own career goals throughout the process.
  • Provides strategic direction and leadership in the development and ongoing execution of a comprehensive, multi-media philanthropic marketing campaign across the city and eventually state and nationally to increase brand awareness of the DLDCCC around giving to Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
