Primary Purpose of Department
The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools, and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative, and service goals.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for the design, support, and operational maintenance of the William States Lee College of Engineering Linux systems and related infrastructure. This position also provides Tier 3 support to ongoing operations.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux services for the College of Engineering.
  • Tier 3 support to College of Engineering computing infrastructure.
  • Architect-level and/or advanced Linux skills are essential.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience with Linux operating system(s) management and architecture.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with RedHat and Ubuntu operating systems
  • Experience with Research systems and Higher Education
  • Working knowledge of advanced data management techniques
  • Experience with Git and process automation (i.e. Ansible, Bash, Python, Perl)
  • Experience with distributed computing environment job schedulers (i.e. Slurm)
  • Experience with containerization/virtualization (i.e. VMWARE, KVM, Docker, Podman)
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
