Responsible for the overall coordination of all IT-related projects or programs within a particular department or associated initiatives within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Provides a high-level program view that highlights the health of each initiative and enables Leadership to take action around anticipated risks, opportunities for acceleration, and key decision points.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provides a high-level program view that highlights the health of each initiative and enables Leadership to take action around anticipated risks, opportunities for acceleration, and key decision points.
  • Works with sponsors, project managers, leads, consultants and key stakeholders to accurately portray and communicate challenges and opportunities of individual projects to departmental leadership.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and liaison between technical resources and faculty as new initiatives are being discussed.
  • Works to ensure faculty have appropriate options, including their respective challenges and benefits, for consideration.
  • Contributes to project teams of major initiatives, primarily with project management or business analyst skills.
  • Establishes standards for use across projects to facilitate a common analysis of data elements and project variables.
  • May hire and directly supervise additional project management resources.
  • Directs the work of all team members including project managers, business analysts, and developers that support software implementations and operational work on existing systems.
  • Responsible for managing and delivering large, complex software implementation programs with multiple work streams, engaging external consulting partners, external vendors and key stakeholders across the university and healthcare departments.
  • Provides portfolio and program level reporting in different formats for different audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Shares analysis and impact of changes to portfolios and programs, and application support activities to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Establish a process for all major initiatives to pass through appropriate university and healthcare IT governance bodies and technical reviews.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A bachelor's degree in IT or related field, and a minimum of seven years of experience in IT project management, with at least three years in a senior leadership role overseeing complex programs and portfolios, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Additional education in Business Administration courses is preferred. Experience working within an academic medical center, research, or healthcare institution is preferred.

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice.  Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
