Senior IT Business Analyst

Princeton University’s Office of Information Technology is seeking a highly motivated and technical Business Analyst/Project Manager to work as a member of its Package Adoption and Configuration (PAC) team. The PAC team is responsible for supporting the assessment, implementation, integration and maintenance of business applications and platforms in use by University departments and offices. Through their work, the team assists departments and the University in leveraging the functionality provided by these systems in the most efficient and secure manner.

 

The Business Analyst/Project Manager works as a liaison between various University departments and PAC, playing a critical role in the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives and supporting ongoing enhancements. The Business Analyst/Project Manager will serve as the subject matter expert on these business applications and platforms and will partner with the management team in vendor relationship activities. This role may also include the need to serve as the project manager overseeing the project management lifecycle including design and implementation of project plans and schedules, task management, identification of issues and mitigation of risks, meeting facilitation and project status communication. The Business Analyst/Project Manager will work collaboratively with the campus partners throughout testing, training and towards any required integrations with other campus systems.



Business Analysis –

  • Partner with business users to gather and document requirements.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise.
  • Assess available technological solutions to assist in choosing the best solution for the business to meet their needs.
  • Translates business requirements to technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation on systems and integrations.
  • Perform impact analysis on upgrades and ensure smooth transition through system upgrades.
  • Stay abreast of IT best practices, platform changes and new features.

Project Management –

  • Facilitate meetings and coordinate project related activities.
  • Design and implement project plans and schedules.
  • Analyze and develop project requirements and specifications.
  • Identify, monitor and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate regularly with all members of the team and senior management relating project status including risks, decisions, delivery quality and resource-related issues and keep the project tasks on track using appropriate monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date on IT best practices and project management methodologies.
  • Plan for the roll-out of upgrades.

Vendor Relationship Management and Product Ownership –

  • Collaborate with support teams and other OIT resources to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Act as a liaison between the business, OIT, and any technology vendor.
  • Foster strong relationships with the vendor, OIT and partners in the business offices.
  • Manage vendor contacts.
  • Provide technical and functional application support.


Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 or more years of experience as a business analyst working on technical projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and processes and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with technical colleagues and campus customers with varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Strong experience gathering requirements, testing and training.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Have a solid understanding of Project Management Office, Project Management, Applications development, Policies, Change Management, IT Systems development and Support planning solutions.
  • Have strong administrative and organizational skills including use of technology and web-based applications.
  • A strong technical background and understanding of IT solutions, processes and best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data governance and IT security policies.

  • Relational database architecture exposure and demonstrable knowledge of SQL.
  • Project management experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education supporting campus constituents.
