Position Overview

The Center for Certification and Competency-Based Education , C3Be, a center within the Achievement and Assessment Institute and the University of Kansas, seeks a Senior Instructional Designer to design competency-based learning experiences and assessments. The Senior Instructional Designer will lead the design of learning modules for competency-based education programs and offerings and collaborate with internal and external partners for the development and delivery of the programs using the Canvas LMS.
Job Description
50% - Learning Design & Development:
- Collaborate with faculty to design and build competency-based education online learning modules for delivery in the Canvas learning management system.
- Coordinate design efforts across multiple faculty within a program team, to maintain competency alignment and support a cohesive learner experience.
- Collaborate with C3Be psychometricians and faculty to design competency-based authentic assessments aligned to the stated competencies and performance indicators, including rubrics and feedback tools for assessors/instructors.
- Develop tasks and tools to support learner self-assessment or formative feedback.
- Work with Digital Media Specialists and other campus partners, such as KUIT Educational Technologists, to implement and facilitate the use of technologies that support teaching and learning in the Canvas learning management system.
- Conduct quality and accessibility reviews of learning modules and support revisions as needed to meet Jayhawk Flex Design Standards.
- Develop support documentation and/or facilitate workshops for faculty in the areas of competency-based education program design or online teaching and learning.
- Develop support documentation and/or multimedia for learners.
Position Requirements
This position will be on-site at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
