ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

This position will serve as an instructional content developer (also known as “instructional designer”) for the Executive MPH (EMPH) program.

The EMPH program is the distance-based MPH at the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) designed specifically for working professionals. The current model utilizes a blended format where students in the Executive MPH program attend on-campus long weekends (Fri-Sat-Sun) at the Emory campus in Atlanta at the beginning and end of each semester. All course work between these on-campus weekends is asynchronous and facilitated using the Canvas learning management system. Starting in August 2023, new students to the program will enroll in a 100% online program. The hybrid and online programs will run simultaneously for the next two years after which point we anticipate running only the 100% online version. Every year, the EMPH program offers approximately 40 courses, taught by 25 instructors. This position will join two additional instructional designers to form the instructional design (ID) team. The ID team works closely with EMPH faculty to develop/revise EMPH courses as well as monitor and maintain them during the semester offered.

In addition to course development, this position will also provide extensive administrative and technical support to courses. IDs in the EMPH program may assist faculty by uploading course content into the learning management system (LMS); liaise with the library to ensure course reserves and/or journal articles are available for students; give first line technical assistance to EMPH staff, faculty and students; monitor courses for student performance and faculty engagement; assist, consult, and provide guidance to faculty regarding appropriate technology usage for student instruction and learning; monitor courses on weekends; and in general remain engaged with each course as it is taught. This position requires occasional attendance and participation in evening and weekend activities. The position also engages in more conventional instructional design activities such as training faculty in the technology and pedagogy of online learning. This position provides technical assistance for webinars for student recruitment, thesis support sessions and other student programming (e.g., lectures by public health leaders). The position collaborates on the development of new curricula and/or courses for the EMPH program. The position is expected to stay abreast of current developments in distance learning and instructional technology.
