Minimum Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six (6) years of HR experience, preferably in a university environment.
Special Conditions
The department is especially interested in candidates with a working knowledge of primary HR disciplines – compensation, employee relations, staffing, benefits, compliance/regulatory and organizational/employee professional development, as well as change management knowledge and experience and project management experience. SHRM certification preferred.

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
May need to work beyond normal work schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities
Single point of contact for designated University departments. Participates in departmental management and staff meetings and interacts with all employees in assisting them with any HR related issues or concerns. Communicates university wide HR initiatives and secures buy-in from customers. Develops champions for HR initiatives. Seeks feedback on all HR processes, procedures and initiatives and recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to HR leadership in efforts to continually improve service and efficiency to the departments they service. Leads change management initiatives for successful implementation. Analyzes trends and metrics for their specific campus areas of responsibility.

Assists the department with their workforce planning needs and leads departmental succession planning process. Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt staff and temporary employees. Creates and monitors job postings and advertisements. Maintains updated organizational charts. Conducts market analysis and provides compensation recommendations. Assists employees with career-pathing and monitors their progress.

Provides benefits and retirement counseling, enrollment assistance, claims resolution, reports changes and communicates with employees on new benefits and/or changes to existing plans and coverages. Provides guidance on Workers’ Compensation issues. Manages the overall leave process for their area of responsibility.

Responds to employee relations issues in accordance with policies, procedures and university practices. Performs employee relations counseling sessions, conflict resolution meetings, thorough complaint investigations, and develops the Investigative Report. Interacts with the Associate Director for Employee Relations and Compliance to maintain consistency throughout the University in the application of discipline prior to meeting with the employee’s supervisor to determine appropriate discipline. Represents management in investigating, answering and settling grievances, by arranging grievance hearings between personnel, supervisor and management. Performs stay and exit interviews with employees to develop engagement programs that increase employee retention. Coordinates the performance management process and the completion of performance evaluations, departmental goals and employee’s professional development plans.

In collaboration with the department’s manager/supervisor, identifies necessary trainings based on the department’s needs and the employees’ learning and professional development needs. Facilitates and/or coordinates needed training sessions with HR’s Engagement, Learning and Development area. Promotes and maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
