Senior Grants & Contracts Specialist (Be Well Institute)

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, responsible for reviewing pre and post award activities of standard and more complex grants and contracts. Provides expert financial oversight to DOM investigators with grant funding as well as assisting with proposal budget preparations and submissions. Leads or mentors lower level team members.

Job Duties: 

• Review salary appointments to grant funds to ensure appointments match the approved budget.
• Provides cost projections for all grant projects on a bi-monthly basis at a minimum, or frequently if required due to the complexity of the budget and associated study tasks.
• Review costs to confirm they are in compliance with the approved budget and work with PI and/or PI staff and DOM Accounting Group as appropriate to resolve discrepancies.
• Provides clear and regular communication to investigators regarding costs and current available balances.
• Assists faculty with any required changes to the award, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor regulations and guidelines.
• Assists investigators with grant proposal preparation including budget preparation, internal approvals, and expert interpretation of sponsor proposal requirements.
• Ensures proposal complies with all departmental, university, and funding agency requirements.
• Works with investigators to ensure timely submission of proposals allowing sufficient time for OSP review.
• Facilitates timely communications between the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Departmental and Divisional administrators, and investigators to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Develops and maintains grant listings to show funding by fiscal year.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education: 

A bachelor’s degree is required. A Masters of Business Administrator (MBA) or Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years related experience is required.
