Purpose

Provide comprehensive support to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for all aspects of the preparation and submission of funding proposals to sponsoring agencies and organizations, as well as oversight of post-award activity.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, contracts, and sub-contracts: Coordinate multi-institution proposals, review subcontracts for accuracy and compliance; Assist professors with gift funding applications and submissions; Process contract amendments and various contract documents; and Provide notification of sponsor requests for information and clarification to PI and/or OSP/PIE.

  • Act as liaison to Office of Sponsored Projects, Discover to Impact, and Sponsored Projects Award Administration regarding pre- and post-award issues. Provide assistance to faculty with electronic proposals, subcontract submissions, and post-awards utilizing internal university systems and external sponsor systems.

  • Serve as back-up for post-award management, including providing revised budgets, helping to establish subcontracts, assisting faculty to determine summer assignment funding, and providing post-award reporting, as needed.

  • Serve as back-up for Department’s Cost Center Manager for research-funds costing.

  • Serve as back-up approver for transactions.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience with external agency proposal-preparation, budget development, and submissions systems for NSF, NIH, DOD, DOE.

  • Bachelor's degree with five years of relevant experience. Minimum 3 years of experience processing various contract documents including NDAs, MTAs, MOUs, TCPs, DUAs, AORs, CDCPs. no-cost extensions, prior approvals on active awards, PI and Co-PI approval requests

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • More than 2 years of grant preparation experience.

  • Expertise with the UT VPR structure, policies, and resources including RSC, OSP, DTI, OTC

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Successful record of managing a high-volume of proposal submissions with competing deadlines accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) status.

  • Familiarity with electronic application systems including Research Management System (RMS), NSF FastLane, Cayuse.

  • Familiarity with UT Define, Direct, and FRMS systems.


Salary Range

$75,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Work Shift

  • Standard work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

  • Flexible schedule and/or hybrid telework may be allowed. 

  • Periodic work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings and weekends, may be required on a periodic basis or for special events.
