This position provides highâlevel comprehensive pre␠and post␠award management and financial services to the School of Engineeringâ™s (SoE) Research Administration office, faculty and students. Independently prepares and reviews sponsored award proposals using sound knowledge of University and sponsor (National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, DARPA, Department of Energy, private industry and foundations) rules and regulations for SoE submissions using the InfoEd/COEUS award management system, Grants.gov and other sponsor submission tools. Manages portfolio sponsored research funding by reviewing, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with award terms and conditions. Provide guidance regarding sponsored project issues, budget management, expenditure review, financial reporting, and participation in training. Reconcile accounts in accordance with federal and nonfederal guidelines, audit accounts, and create analytical reports for the PIs, Dean and school managers. Effectively communicate award and financial policies to students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelorâ™s degree in Accounting, Finance or STEM preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of finance and budget experience (preferably in academia or notâforâprofit) and research administration experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Experience with proposal preparation with federal and non-federal grants and using the InfoEd/Coeus grants management (or similar) system
  • Familiarity with eRA Commons, NSF Fastlane, Research.gov and/or Grants.gov preferred
  • Higher-Education or non-profit work experience preferred

  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong service â“ oriented attitude.
  • Excellent communication skillsâboth oral and writtenâto elicit and communicate information, to analyze data, and to prepare /present clear, informative, and concise materials.
  • File management skills.
  • Willingness and interest to assume increasing responsibilities, networking, leadership and training

opportunities.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse population and handle sensitive and confidential information with

discretion.
