CARES - The Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Servival of Emory University, is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join their team. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide software development support, including identifying and generating software specifications and designing, developing, reviewing, implementing, and revising software applications to meet business needs.
  • Primary Focus: Full Stack software development(Angular/Java).
  • Secondary Capabilities: DevOps experience, AWS experience.
  • This position would initially require more DevOps and AWS work with a long-term balance of responsibilities including more full stack development.
  • Review software specifications, systems, and tasks using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure they are secure, functional, aligned with CARES coding standards and business needs, and compliant with all applicable statutes, laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Improve CI/CD pipelines to automate the software development lifecycle's build, test, and deployment phases.
  • Implement and enhance security measures in the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure to ensure a secure development and production environment.
  • Analyze, propose, and seamlessly integrate 3rd party client-side tools and functionality.
  • Peer-review code, ensuring that code is secure, functional, and aligned with CARES coding standards and business needs.
  • Participate in software testing and subsequent modifications.
  • Collaborate with fellow developers, designers, analysts, and software testers to update the CARES application to meet business needs.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef to ensure scalable and reproducible infrastructure deployments.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the health of CARES AWS resources.
  • Enforce security best practices and compliance standards within the AWS environment.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Six years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), IntelliJ (or other IDE), and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack, Graylog).
  • Solid understanding of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to interact with stakeholders, comprehend requirements, and explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Bash, or Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/SSH.
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore teams.

PREFERRED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of Angular (version 9+ preferred) development, or comparable client-sideframework.
  • 2+ years of Java development.
  • 5+ years of general software development.
  • 2+ years of AWS experience.
  • 1+ years of DevOps experience.

PREFERRED APPLICABLE CERTIFICATIONS:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Foundational.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
  • AWS Certified Security Specialty.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Developer Associate.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice.  Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
