Job Location: Remote or Adelphi, Maryland



University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Senior Financial &System Analyst in the Office of Budget and Financial Planning. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Budget and Financial Planning, the Senior Financial & System Analyst will support decision-making for critical business strategies by producing complex financial and budget analyses. The Senior Financial and Systems Analyst will be the lead in maintaining and further developing the Adaptive Planning tool for UMGC. Occasional travel between local UMGC locations may be required. 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop, and maintain complex financial models and reports to provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision-making purposes. Analyze large sets of financial data to identify historical trends and current year performance, produce costing analyses, develop pricing strategies, and evaluate KPIs to determine UMGC's financial performance

  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for a cloud-based planning solution (Adaptive Planning a Workday product); Create and manages reports for high level review; Develop financial models, analyses, KPIs and reports within Adaptive. Manage and maximize the day-to-day functionality of Adaptive and continues evolving the tool with enhanced financial analytics and budget reporting; Plan, review, and revise configurations and customizations to meet evolving business and operational needs.

  • Act as the main point of contact for all Adaptive Planning updates and technical requests; Conduct ongoing maintenance;  Provides complex problem-solving expertise for user interface issues, technical support and training as needed;  Responsible for implementing any upgrades and enhancements to the Adaptive Planning tool;  Manages the integration with the general ledger platform, Workday Financials. Work closely with UMGC Workday SMEs as it relates to integrations and reports being used in the Adaptive Planning tool. 

  • Aid in the annual preparation and internal allocation of all UMGC funds across 60+ departmental units and three global divisions.  Work with departmental units to develop and manage budgets throughout the year.

  • Create process efficiencies for budgetary controls and tracking systems to better ensure adherence.

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze budgets, accounting entries, financial statements, and reports.  Process budget transfers, using Workday Financials software.  Assisting in quality assurance and ad-hoc reporting and budget analysis.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.



REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Five (5) years of experience maintaining a cloud-based planning solution (Adaptive preferred)

  • Five (5) years of experience performing Financial Analysis

  • Experience using Adaptive Planning and Workday financials

  • Excellent in Excel and Analytical, specifically related to producing complex financial models, costing analysis, KPIs, variance analysis, forecasting, and budget development.
