This position is a Hybrid Work Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm; 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.


DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

UC San Diego Housing, Dining and Hospitality provides housing and dining services for approximately 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students and their families in more than 400 buildings, covering nearly 10 million square feet. Consisting of eight divisions, HDH has more than 1,000 career employees, 1,200 to 1,300 student employees, and an annual operating budget greater than $250 million.

HDH is a self-supporting department that operates without any federal, state or campus funding. The department receives nearly 90% of its funding from housing and dining services. It also secures revenue from conference and catering services. The goal is to break even.

HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan that will added 10,000 new beds in the next 10 years and will almost double our square footage by 2032.

POSITON DESCRIPTION

The Senior Financial Analyst Supervisor performs the full range of responsibilities within the required functions, analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope, and independently determines solutions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Trains and supervises a team of nonexempt financial services employees who are primarily involved in performing transactional and processing functions, with responsibility for quality and quantity of work.

  • Coordinates and provides oversight of their work. Supports onboarding, out boarding activities, and manage employee performance, evaluation, and feedback.

  • Leads and/or participates in a variety of projects and follow through with all levels of staff and individuals inside and outside the organization.

  • Monitors designated Budget Systems, Student Information System (SIS), and Oracle Financials Cloud (OFC) platforms (sub-ledger/general ledger) and executes with comprehensive knowledge of budget, billing assessments, collections audit, and reconciliation functions.

  • Ensures that the billing assessments, account receivable, and collection activities are performed in a timely manner.

  • Manages third-party payments processes and account applications.

  • Writes, creates, and updates the Billing, Account Receivable (AR), and Collection Processes and Procedures.

  • Participates in gathering documents, preparing and initiating the housing revenue and unit budget forecast/projections, and cost analyses to ensure availability of funding and to assist/advise associates and senior managers in short- and long-range budget planning. Make recommendations to senior managers in addressing potential challenges.

  • Participates in budget reviews, analysis, and occupancy allocation related to rent, room and board, miscellaneous housing revenue, and division's S&E. Back-up for the monthly, quarterly, and annual budget and actual revenue and expenditure reports. Assist updating and maintaining multiple budget mediums and systems.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced financial service professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.

  • Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.

  • Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database softw
