JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates major financial reporting and budgeting activities.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates the correction of account balances, resolves funding issues, and maintains proper accounting controls and procedures.
  • Makes recommendations to management related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses.
  • Prepares and analyzes statistical and financial reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
  • May assist in preparing, developing, and monitoring department/organizational budgets.
  • May maintain grant agreements, policies, and guidelines; coordinate grant reporting requirements; review grant funding source compliance, and negotiate grant funding with awarding agencies.
  • May perform indirect cost analysis.
  • May hire, train, and supervise a small staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Works closely on strategic forecasting and decision making for year-round education abroad program offering and summer programs including online, summer school, and pre-college offerings.
  • Coordinates efforts to ensure that major financial reporting, practices, and budgeting activities support decision-making needs.
  • Supports stakeholders and management of programs, which includes global, summer, online, and other innovative high-impact programming to identify business objectives and requirements as they align with experiential learning.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations, reporting, and approval requirements
  • Develops, prepares, and maintains operational, enrollment, and analytical dashboards and information
  • Coordinates the correction of account balances, resolves funding issues, and maintains proper accounting controls and procedures.
  • Makes recommendations to management related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses
  • Prepares and analyzes statistical and financial reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules
  •  Assists in planning and implementing systems related projects
  • Monitors, reviews, and coordinates department/organizational budgets
  • Oversees some expense reconciliation and foreign payment processes.
  • May perform indirect cost analysis.
  • Train, and supervise a staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field and four years of financial analyst or accounting experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in budgeting and accounting in an international and/or higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying information technology to one or more financial functions.
  • Experience in Oracle Business Intelligence or Oracle Analytics Cloud.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and talent for multi-tasking. 
  • Experience with managing direct reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills and experience working with a variety of constituents.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft (including Compass Financial systems and OPUS).

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
