Position Information

The Senior Executive Director, Principal Giving reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Development (AVCD). The incumbent will serve on the AVCD leadership team. The incumbent will supervise three teammates manage the principal giving fundraising strategy efforts of gifts $1M and above and maintain a principal giving portfolio. This is a cross-collaborative position working with various Directors of Development and the Gift Planning team to cultivate and solicit high-net, major gift donors. In addition to the incumbent's responsibilities in growing UCR's Principal Giving fundraising goals, the incumbent will also have oversight of the planned giving team. The UCR's planned giving team is responsible for building a pipeline of planned gift prospects nationwide and beyond, ultimately increasing deferred and outright giving by individuals for the benefit of colleges, departments, and programs campus-wide. Additionally, this position is eligible for hybrid accommodations. A cover letter is required.

The full salary range for the Senior Executive Director, Principal Giving is $118,800 - $233,200 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $155,000 - $175,000 annually. We base salary offers on various considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Excellent leadership/management skills to select, train, mentor, evaluate and motivate staff.
Excellent knowledge of leadership/management concepts, procedures, techniques and best practices.
Excellent knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor and public relations including advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, persuasion/negotiation skills and marketing skills.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills, including excellent political acumen skills, to build and maintain effective working relationships within all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
Excellent skills in meeting predetermined goals and objectives, including securing gifts and meeting fundraising goals.


Preferred Qualifications

Excellent knowledge of the campus, its achievements, vision, mission, goals, objectives, applicable policies, infrastructure and current issues of concern and knowledge of issues of concern for higher education generally.
