Job Summary:
The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) is an institutional center at North Carolina State University. Chartered by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1978, we conduct surface and air transportation research, training, and technical support activities. ITRE works across various modes of transportation to provide capacity and expertise for municipal, state, federal, and international clients to address critical transportation issues. Prior to transitioning administratively to our current home at NC State University in 1992, ITRE existed as the University of North Carolina Institute for Transportation Research and Education.Position takes a senior role in economic impact and policy assessment sponsored projects. This includes participating in formulating research methods and project management responsibilities in executing research activities. On a day to day basis, this position independently leads and conducts research on transportation policy and economic assessments. The topics can include but not be limited to asset management, transportation policy, logistics, highways, airports, ports, ferries, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and others. The position will be responsible for field data collection efforts, and will lead students in the development and implementation of thorough collection and analysis methodologies. The position will help prepare and deliver final reports and presentations to clients.   
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and master?s degree in Transportation Policy or Economics required, plus relevant eight or more years of experience using applied research methods to study transportation policy and related economic analysis.  - Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Strong analytical skills- Strong working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
