Senior Director Parent and Family Program

The Senior Director of the Parent and Family Program will focus on cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts from a portfolio of parent prospects to support university priorities. The Senior Director will partner closely with University Relations’ Prospect Research Team to continuously build a portfolio of new, high-capacity parent prospects. This position will also create and execute strategies to engage current and past parents who have affinity toward Creighton. The Senior Director will assist in building a communications strategy in partnership with the Advancement Communications Team, as well as engage volunteers of the Parent and Family Leadership Council (PFLC). The Senior Director will build strong on-campus partnerships with Enrollment Management, Student Life, Student Success, the Career Center, Alumni Relations and Development staff to maximize opportunities for engagement and to support programming initiatives for parents of current, prospective, and former students.

  • Cultivate and solicit major gifts from a portfolio of parent prospects in support of the university’s strategic priorities. Cultivate and steward portfolio to increase affinity and maximize giving of parent prospects. Consistently apply creative and critical thinking about the development and execution of parent programming. Monitor and manage Parent and Family Program productivity through performance metrics and reporting.
  • Lead Parent and Family Leadership Council (PFLC) in coordination with campus partners including Admissions, Student Life, Alumni Relations and Development.
  • Manage the Director of Development for the Parent and Family Program. Together, the Senior Director of the Parent and Family Program, as well as the Director will execute the following activities: bi-annual meetings of the Parents' Council; Student Send Offs in key cities; Presidential Parents' Reception during student move-in day; Parents' Weekend; Parent engagement opportunities on campus or nationally (lectures, alumni events, athletics events, etc.).
  • Lead Parent and Family program team in partnership with Prospect Development, to consistently build parent prospect pipeline.
  • Lead Parent and Family Program in partnership with Advancement Communications to provide content for the quarterly parent newsletter and Creighton's P&F Program website. Help coordinate communication disseminated in email, social media and the parent family portal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of demonstrated, successful major gift fundraising experience (comparable experience will be considered.)
  • Demonstrated success in program management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective volunteer management and experience working with boards and/or councils required.
  • Experience in higher education during a comprehensive campaign environment preferred.
  • Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with a customer relationship management system preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
  • Willingness to travel nationally for events, prospect visits and solicitations.
  • Proven success with people management.
