Description
The Senior Director of Marketing & Enrollment Services is an experienced, highly collaborative, and goal-oriented professional who leads the online student recruitment and retention strategy at the UNE Online College of Professional Studies. In consultation with the Dean’s Leadership team, the Senior Director recommends recruitment and retention goals for new and existing programs. Based on current and historic recruitment and retention data, the Senior Director helps forecast college-wide enrollments that inform the overall UNE Online enrollment and revenue goals set annually and in accordance with the college budget development process.
This position manages a team including the Director of Online Admissions, Director of Retention Services, Enrollment and Retention Counselors, a marketing production manager, and a marketing and enrollment operations coordinator who are responsible for recruiting, engaging, enrolling, and retaining students in UNE’s online programs. Reporting to the UNE Online Dean, the Senior Director is accountable for the CPS marketing and recruitment strategy, the enrollment and retention team charged with implementing and evaluating enrollment and retention goals while ensuring efficiency and effectiveness throughout the student’s enrollment. This position also serves as the primary liaison to internal and external marketing and communications resources and vendors. Through extensive collaboration within UNE Online faculty, professional staff, and students, this position is committed to leading and managing a student-centered marketing, recruitment, and retention processes.
The anticipated annual salary is $90,000, with total compensation ranging between $112,934 and $126,726, depending on the medical and dental plans selected.

Responsibilities
Strategy
  • Support and collaborate with the CPS Dean, Dean’s Leadership team, and other CPS Directors to implement, manage and evaluate online learning.
  • Manage a comprehensive enrollment and retention services team including lead generation, outreach and engagement efforts, registration in credit and non-credit student information systems and processes associated with maximizing retention of students.
  • Serve as the college’s primary liaison to marketing vendors and centralized application service providers.
  • Oversee the marketing production management, ensure recruitment practices are yielding qualified leads, and evaluate marketing campaign results to optimize college-wide enrollments.
  • Collaborate with program managers to tailor college enrollment best practices to meet the needs of each online program.
  • Develop, review, update, interpret, communicate, and implement college-wide credit and non-credit online admission and enrollment policies.
  • Serve as a liaison to accrediting officials, professional organizations, and others outside the University on matters related to online admission and enrollment.
  • Develop, collect, track, and analyze operational metrics related to marketing/recruitment plans, lead generation, and enrollment.
  • Lead marketing and enrollment operational activities related to online admissions and enrollment for new program launches.
  • Collaborate with University Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Academic Success, Marketing, ITS and other mission-critical institutional partners to foster a seamless and student-centered experience from prospect to graduate.

Leadership
  • Exercise full supervisory authority over professional staff within CPS enrollment and retention services department
    • Creatively lead, motivate and mentor an effective and accomplished staff.
    • Meet regularly with team to plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities and resolve problems.
    • Plan staffing needs and reviews unit performance and individual performance of direct reports.
    • Provide opportunities and supports professional growth and development among staff.
  • Responsible for all new hires in enrollment and retention services department, in compliance with established budget and human resource guidelines.
  • Responsible for performance management of enrollment and retention services team.
  • Accountable for hiring high functioning and effective staff.
  • Guide team leaders in developing training and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal/regulatory and accreditation standards.

Budget
  • Achieve marketing and enrollment targets, as identified by the college’s strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and Assistant Director of Finance & Administration to support and ensure the fiscal stability of the college.
  • Provide budgetary input into forecasting and planning activities for new and existing programs.
  • Calculate budget impact of new program launches on existing CPS resources related to online enrollment services including marketing, outreach, admission, and enrollment.
  • Provide consistent updates on marketing, recruitment, and enrollment metrics and associated cost per applicant/enrollment conversion.

Efficiency
  • Execute ongoing analysis and refinement of processes and workflows to maintain operational efficiency in the enrollment and retention services department.
  • Use monitoring data to manage teams and individual performance.
  • Network and communicate with peers to facilitate operational standards and improvements.
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement hardware and software systems for application and enrollment.
Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred, plus 5-10 years combined recruitment/sales experience, enrollment management, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. 4 years of higher education experience and prior supervisory or team leadership experience required. Plus:
  • 3-5 years of management/supervisory experience
  • A proven track record of managing multiple teams and recruitment related initiatives to maximize lead generation and achieve enrollment goals
  • Knowledge of higher education (specifically online learning and program operations)
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, employees, vendors, and clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office)
  • Expert knowledge of higher education marketing, digital recruitment strategies, CRM or equivalent database systems, and credit and non-credit registration systems
  • Broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to budget management and methods, with good work knowledge of fund accounting systems
  • This position offers hybrid flexible work options (must be able to attend meetings and regularly scheduled days on the Portland campus).
