The O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law was established in 2007 through the generous philanthropy of Linda and Timothy O'Neill to respond to the need for innovative solutions to the most pressing global health concerns. In bringing together experts from both the public health and legal fields, the O'Neill Institute reflects the importance of public and private law in health policy analysis.
Job Overview
The Senior Director Internal Affairs for the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law supports the Executive Director in operational, strategic, policy, and programmatic management.
In partnership with the Executive Director, they develop and implement strategic decisions for the Institute, preserving and strengthening engagement at the Law Center and across Georgetown campuses.
As well, they direct the Institute's daily operations as a partner to the Executive Director in organizational culture development and management; and in collaboration with Initiative Directors, they assist teams of staff with a focus on increasing efficiency to broaden impact.
They support the Executive Director in defining the institute's strategic priorities, working with Directors and their teams to manage execution; and work closely with senior staff leadership across Georgetown campuses to strengthen connections and build new opportunities for strategic collaborations.
And in close collaboration with Directors, they manage partnerships with external organizations, partner universities, and sponsoring entities, ensuring these relationships benefit the long-term goals of the O'Neill Institute and Georgetown Law.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of best practices
  • Advise on policy, procedural and operational issues of the institute
  • Manage daily operations to maintain and increase efficiency across the institute
  • Set strategic priorities, goals, and initiatives for the Institute
  • Support initiative directors in partnership management
  • Oversee internal communication strategies, channels, and methods

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Internal Affairs interacts regularly with relevant business and programming staff across the Georgetown Law Center, as well as with leadership from related schools, institutes, and centers across Georgetown campuses. They also work closely with strategic external partners and interact with alumni and donors.
This position has been designated as Telework. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree - preference for MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field
  • 7+ years of related experience in operations management, strategy development, and project management, including at least 3 years of experience building and managing effective and collaborative teams
  • Strong skills in managing multiple complex and multi-faceted projects across cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing, designing, and nurturing strategic partnerships

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education or the nonprofit sector at an organization with a related mission
  • Experience managing collaboration across a mix of in-person, hybrid, and remote staff

The expected pay range for this position is $80,429 to $150,00 per annum.
Georgetown University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs.
