Senior Director of Accreditation and Assessment

The Senior Director of Accreditation and Assessment leads Creighton University School of Dentistry in a continuous quality improvement (CQI) process aimed at maintaining accreditation and ensuring the institution's commitment to providing high-quality dental education. Designs, directs, and supports academic and administrative program reviews and related activities that demonstrate institutional effectiveness consistent with CODA Standard 1 (notably Standard 1.2) and related other standards directed at outcomes and assessment. Coordinates all activities for CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) and HLC (Higher Learning Commission) site visits and ongoing assessment and reporting to commissions and regulatory bodies.

  • In a collaborative, timely and consistent manner, lead the ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic and operational planning (Continuing Quality Improvement – CQI) processes for the School of Dentistry (SOD), in a broad based, systematic, continuous manner in order to meet stated goals and academic success of the student body and the SOD. Such effort involves but is not limited to: setting and executing long- and short-term strategic goals and key initiatives as to institutional effectiveness, student achievement, patient care, research and service; the ongoing refinement and direction of the SOD’s operational planning process (CQI); and collecting, organizing and retaining historical data and documenting evidence for such processes, accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the planning, organization, drafts and finalized reporting documents associated with the School’s accreditation processes along with proper submission to accrediting bodies.
  • Oversees and provides guidance to academic administration(s) and project coordinator(s) in the accreditation, strategic planning, and operational planning (CQI) teams. Works collaboratively with other departments, offices, and strategic planning committees at the School of Dentistry and the University, including external consultants and related resources. Assists the Associate, Assistant, Senior Associate Deans, and the Dean in setting and executing strategic initiatives for the SOD.
  • Oversees the effectiveness and execution of the SOD’s strategic and operational (CQI) plans, directing the collection, assessment, synthesis, and interpretation of pertinent data. Responsible for prioritizing and facilitating recommendations from the operational plan (CQI) process that drive initial, revised or sunsetting of strategic plan goals and initiatives.
  • Prepares in organized fashion and presents strategic planning, operational plan (CQI) and accreditation reports to the Dean’s Administration, Executive committee, and other departments, faculty/staff/student bodies and offices of the SOD, and the university, as requested.
  • Maintains expertise in evolving accreditation requirements, ensuring compliance is documented and managed in accordance with established timelines and/or policy.
  • Develops and delivers training or briefing materials related to institutional effectiveness and serves on various educational and other school governance committees, providing internal consulting on strategic planning/ operational plan (CQI) /CODA -related matters to the faculty and stakeholders as they arise.
  • Ensures timely submission of required SOD data to University, regional, national accreditation bodies, as well as regulatory agencies or legislative committees.
  • Provides oversight for any ongoing required communications, reporting, and corrective action plans emanating from the CODA accreditation processes, regulatory agencies or governmental entities.
  • Supervises, lead, train, and monitor the activities of assigned staff.
  • Additional duties and committee membership as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or terminal degree in related field required.

At a minimum, 5 years of academic experience at a depth and breadth specified in the position description in the areas of the strategic planning, outcomes assessment and accreditation processes.
