Under the direction of the Senior Director, Annual Giving, the Senior Director, Engagement Programs is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Chancellor’s Club, maintaining and expanding a meaningful engagement and leadership annual giving society, and the Parent Philanthropy & Engagement program, which seeks to increase and enhance engagement with and raise funds from rated parents whose children are current or former UCI students. The incumbent will lead the Parent Philanthropy team to develop, plan, and implement programs to encourage and increase parent giving and enhance parent relations while concurrently managing and implementing the schedule of programs to expand memberships and revenue associated with the Chancellor’s Club. The Senior Director will be responsible for identifying and cultivating individual prospects who are capable of making gifts in excess of $100,000 to their managed programs and/or throughout the enterprise. They will manage the Senior Associate Director, Parent Philanthropy & Engagement and the Assistant Director, Parent Philanthropy & Engagement to expand parent philanthropy at the major, leadership and annual giving levels. Additionally, the Senior Director will manage the Events Associate, Chancellor’s Club who provides marketing and event planning support for the Chancellor’s Club

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $100,600.00 - $190,800.00 (Annual Salary).
 
Required:
 
  • Five to seven years' successful professional development and/or fundraising-related experience, preferably in higher education, OR, any equivalent combinations of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved. 
  • Experience working in a capital campaign and knowledge of concepts from planning phase to conclusion is desired. 
  • Successful experience working with volunteers, leaders and university administrators to ensure an integrated, organized effort.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. 
  • Advanced working knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and / or throughout higher education / healthcare generally. 
  • Advanced working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce or a comparable donor/prospect database system. 
  • Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. 
  • Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts. 
  • Advanced organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and strong project management skills. 
  • Very strong skills in maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrable experience closing major gifts of at least $100,000. Demonstrable experience in stewardship plans leading to additional investments. 
  • Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials. 
  • Ability to work independently with both school and institutional goals in mind. 
  • Understanding of academic, research and education functions and operating principals of a major research university Clarity of focus while juggling complex projects and/or deadlines. 
  • Ability to meet demanding work schedule expectations.
     

Preferred:
 
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
     

Special Conditions Required:
 
  • May work long hours to meet fundraising commitments 
  • Local, regional, and national travel is required. 
  • Must have a CA Drivers license and participate in the DMV pull program.
