The Senior Dean of Students works closely with the Vice President for Student Engagement & Success to provide strategic input into the overall direction of the division and primary student service programs and operations. This position serves as the senior Dean of Students, supervising the representatives of the Dean of Students Office on the CMG, GVL, & OCN campuses, and serves directly as the Dean of Students for the Dahlonega and Blue Ridge campuses. The Dean of Students is the dedicated point of contact for students and for parents/families who need assistance and support. The Dean partners with multiple offices and a wide variety of faculty and staff colleagues to facilitate the resolution of student issues and concerns. The Senior Dean of Students manages the formal Student Complaint process in compliance with SACS-COC guidelines. In addition, the Dean of Students supervises the comprehensive Student Care & Outreach efforts across campuses, and oversees the operations of the Office of Student Integrity. This position plays a critical role in identifying and managing risk management concerns regarding student welfare and safety, and partners with a number of departments to ensure full compliance with UNG, USG, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. The Dean of Students reports directly to the Vice President for Student Engagement & Success. Must travel regularly between UNG¿s 5 campuses.

  • Supervise professional staff and provide overall direction of the Dean of Students Offices, Student Care & Outreach programs and services, and guide and supervise the Office of Student Integrity to effectively provide vital student support and student success services across five campuses, and within the online community.
  • Coordinate and provide proactive outreach and responsive one-on-one communication with students  and parents/families who are dealing with challenges or concerns. Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty and staff who refer students for assistance and support.
  • Work closely with staff and faculty colleagues to identify and resolve student issues and concerns, to mediate and resolve conflict or points of tension that hinder students¿ successful progress, and to respond to student referrals for assistance, as needed.
  • Serves as a co-chair to the Behavior Intervention Team for the Dahlonega campus and provide crisis intervention services and resource referrals to students as needed, including maintaining accurate and timely documentation in Maxient.
  • Regularly attend and support student functions and events, including SGA meetings. Serve as a representative for the Division during campus-wide and University-wide programs and events.
  • Partner collaboratively with various university departments to build and enhance programs and services that strengthen and enhance student success programs and services. 
  • Masters degree in student personnel or related field. doctorate preferred.
  • Five years of professional experience in Student Affairs. 
  • Mental Health First Aid preferred.
