This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through December 31, 2025. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

The Administrative Data Management and Reporting Ecosystem (ADMIRE) project is designed to create a comprehensive data strategy that enables the institution to leverage administrative data to inform decisions, make predictions, and otherwise understand our operations. The demand for high-quality, normalized, and interconnected data has continued to increase, with the emergence of generative artificial intelligence putting a spotlight on the challenges of data quality and data governance. This project prioritizes the foundational technology and related services that will enable such initiatives to move forward easily in the future. The ADMIRE project will enable us to leverage the full value of our digital assets for an enterprise-wide approach to data governance, create a modern data ecosystem, and incorporate best practices into our data management capabilities.
In the process of upgrading and modernizing our systems, we are looking for an experienced candidate to manage data replication from different sources to the Oracle Data Warehouse in OCI using primarily GoldenGate technology but may use other replication technologies depending on the use cases (like streaming data, SalesForce, SaaS applications). This is an exciting role to build a new centralized practice to implement and support the foundational core work of modern data ecosystem. The candidate should also be able to provide long term roadmaps, have a solid understanding of modern data pipelines.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
An experienced professional who can set up replication from different sources to Oracle DW using various ingestion tools. The candidate should have experience with GoldenGate or equivalent replication tool.
- Play a leadership role in managing a practice for University wide replication solution.
- Design and develop scalable data replication pipelines utilizing continuous or batch processing frameworks (e.g., Oracle GoldenGate, Informatica Mass Ingestion, API, Streaming).
- Collaborate with business partners to determine needs and recommend ingestion pipeline design solutions.
- Implement data replication best practices to eliminate/minimize the downtime for operational requirements.
- Manage off-shore team for production support and implementation.
- Assess source system tables to set up for replication of data.
- Work with source system SMEs to assess and recommend changes as needed to support replication.
- Set up replication scripts for automation, monitoring and alerting tools, and production support and SLA documents.
- Build repeatable patterns to onboard tenants rapidly.
- Own technical engagement, strategy and roadmap for ingestion and data replication.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Experience in configuring and building a GoldenGate (or equivalent log reader), and creating and owning SLAs, operation procedures, recovery for the replication environment.
- Expertise in distributed systems concepts (e.g., fault tolerance, scalability, high availability).
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages like Python, or Scala, or Java for data manipulation and pipeline automation.
- Familiarity with related tools like Informatica Mass ingestions, Fivetran, Veridata monitoring tool will be a plus, and streaming tools like Kafka is also an added benefit.
Certificates and Licenses
- Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Work Format Details
HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. This position has been designated as a primarily remote position. While this position is primarily remote, travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
