Responsible for providing culturally and clinically appropriate psychiatric emergency assessments, on-going individual and group counseling services, and psychology intern supervision to a diverse student body. Experience working as part of a collaborative, team-based approach to clinical services in a fast-paced work setting.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Student Counseling Center


  • Provide on-going individual and group clinical evaluations and counseling.
  • Provide departmental supervision/clinical coverage in place of the director and associate director in their absence.
  • Provide campus mental health consultations to University staff, administrators, and faculty, as needed.
  • Supervise APACI consortium psychology interns.
  • Facilitate psychiatric hospital admissions of high-risk students.
  • Provide back-up triage, crisis intervention, and psychosocial intakes.
  • Participate in case conference and clinical grand rounds series.
  • Maintain accurate and professional documentation regarding services provided.
  • Participate in department and division assessment efforts.
  • Remain abreast of NY State and national legal and ethical policies for psychologists and college counseling centers.
  • Participate in professional meetings and conferences to update knowledge and maintain credentials.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior analytic and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with suicidal, individuals, providing risk assessment and crisis interventions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience required, preferably with a college population.
  • Master's in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required.
  • Ph.D or Psy.D in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program and completion of an APA accredited internship preferred.
  • Relevant current NYS clinical license required.
