Senior Construction Project Manager(Term-Limited)

The University of Virginia’s Capital Construction and Renovation Services (CCR) is searching for a Senior Construction Project Manager to serve as the primary point of contact for incoming projects.  Collaborating with various university stakeholders (both on the academic and health side), they ensure clear understanding of project goals to draft comprehensive project plan scopes, schedules, and budgets. Working closely with CCR Leadership, they shepherd projects through specific phases or aspects, such as technical studies, design, and into construction. The Senior Project Manager will also ensure contractor compliance with negotiated contract documents and provide recommendations for enhancing engineering details and construction feasibility through the review of preliminary and final plans as needed. Additionally, they may oversee minor construction projects as needed and actively monitor construction progress, resolving any issues that may arise in coordination with the construction project manager, architect, and contractor.

This position is a restricted role with a one-year term at 32 hours per week.

Duties Include:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Construction and Renovation Services.

  • Oversee the development and management of various construction projects.

  • Collaborate with university stakeholders from both academic and health sectors to ensure clear understanding of project goals.

  • Draft comprehensive project plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Work closely with Construction and Renovation Services Leadership to shepherd projects through specific phases or aspects, including technical studies, design, and construction.

  • Ensure contractor compliance with negotiated contract documents.

  • Provide recommendations for enhancing engineering details and construction feasibility through the review of preliminary and final plans.

  • Oversee minor construction projects as needed.

  • Actively monitor construction progress and resolve any issues that arise in coordination with the construction project manager, architect, and contractor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction or related field. 

  • Experience: Seven years of experience in project or construction management. 

Anticipated Hiring Rate: $75,000 annually.
