POSITION SUMMARY:  


The Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing Commodity Manager is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, bidding, pricing, and supplier management for all OSUWMC departments within his or her responsible categories.  A key element of this role is to directly interact with OSUWMC stakeholders and collaborate with other department leaders to create and execute the strategic sourcing and contract management functions.  The Commodity Manager will collaborate with a group of Senior Commodity Managers, Senior Buyers, Buyers and Project Managers and lead savings projects of significant value. Collectively, they are responsible for developing and fostering business relationships within the clinical locations and related business entities of the Health System. The Commodity Manager identifies and leads cost saving and process improvement projects to the benefit of the Health System and its patients.

The Commodity Manager develops and continually updates market intelligence (benchmarking) on key suppliers and market solutions.  In addition, this person is responsible for enhancing existing commodity strategies, developing new strategies and gaining consensus from leaders.

After contract award, the Commodity Manager owns the key supplier relationships based on assigned categories, develops strategic account plans and conducts periodic management meetings with those key suppliers to maintain and increase efficiencies.

The Commodity Manager must have a broad knowledge of all products and services within their category, including suppliers and their product offerings. 

Senior Commodity Managers are responsible and accountable for more complex, higher spend categories and demonstrate leadership qualities throughout their role.

Minimum Qualifications:

For Hire:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Healthcare or relevant field
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Communications, Business, Healthcare or relevant field
  • Or equivalent education and experience
  • Mentoring or coaching experience

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in in Communications, Business, Healthcare or relevant field
  • Sourcing experience
  • Certifications in a related field
  • Leadership experience preferred
