The Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine serves to fulfill the tripartite mission of all academic departments contributing to patient care, education, and discovery that leads to new therapeutics. We partner with colleagues George Washington University Hospital, the Children’s National Health System, the Washington DC Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and our neighbor institutions, including the National Institutes of Health. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art care utilizing advanced medical technologies. The interest of the laboratory is to understand the immune system dysregulation in autoimmune diseases. Our work is funded by the NIH, Patient Advocacy Groups, and donations to the Laboratory for Myasthenia Gravis Research. To achieve that goal the laboratory is dedicated to the pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis. Our therapy development program spans preclinical programs, clinical trials, biomarker discovery, and basic research on the autoimmune process.
This position supports complicated research projects in an assigned Practice Area through the performance of basic clinical and administrative procedures including data collection and tracking. This position helps ensure that research projects conform to regulatory and clinical guidelines. The Sr. Clinical Research Coordinate works independently to provide support for Investigator-Initiated studies, phase 1 and other complex studies of all phases. This position will conduct clinical trial activities; will assist in the preparation of electronic and paper regulatory submissions, program reports, funding proposals, work plans, activity charts and correspondence as needed. Additional responsibilities include working with operations manuals, auditing for research documentation, and maintaining participant databases. This position is expected to mentor other team members with less experience.
Duties Include:
· Coordinates research study protocols.
· Conducts follow-up on research study participants.
· Assists in presentations of research data and findings.
· Explains study protocols to potential research subjects and manages all screening activities.
· Provides daily research support for all assigned research studies.
· Liaison with other campus-wide offices and external research collaborators as necessary to conduct study activity.
· Assist with all research regulatory activities and maintains compliance with all sponsor and institutional research requirements.
· Conducts computerized and online research as necessary to support ongoing and future research

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 5 years of relevant professional experience or, a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 4 years of relevant professional experience and a certification or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

· Familiarity with Institutional Review Boards (IRB), their functions; FDA policies and procedures
· Computer literacy with Microsoft Word and Excel
· Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is preferred
