Position Summary
The ideal candidate will perform testing using multiple clinical laboratory instruments and laboratory developed tests. Testing will support clinical research for novel biomarker discovery and implementation of in vitro diagnostics spanning clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and molecular diagnostics. This position will perform testing on blood and occasionally body fluids.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs routine assays according to laboratory standard operating procedures, including specimen processing, instrument maintenance, cleaning and minor troubleshooting, lab supply inventory and storage; may perform special assays with supervision by a senior medical technologist or supervisor.
- Prepares reagents used in laboratory procedures.
- Assesses quality of samples for processing. Recognizes problem situations and participates in problem solving; informs supervisor and lab leadership of unusual situations and requests technical assistance.
- May assist with validation of new assays; compiles data for supervisory review; utilizes database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
- Complies with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation.
- Demonstrates a general understanding of assay methods and clinical relevance; participates in relevant continuing education.
- Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.
Working Conditions
- Requires the use of personal protective equipment.
- Work is performed in a clinical laboratory.
- Requires operation of lab equipment and computers.
- Requires some physical effort.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical laboratory experience.
- ASCP registry or equivalent.
- Experience with clinical trials using in vitrp diagnostics
- Demonstrates ability to perform tasks in an organized and systematic manner with great attention to detail
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a large team.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate in a professional manner at all times and to recognize cultural diversity in the workplace.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with staff, team leaders, management, and directors.
- Demonstrates the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to new instruments and protocols
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physical life science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling four years.

C08-H
Salary Range
$20.17 - $30.24 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
