General Description of Position:

Under the direction of the Finance Systems Architect, this position is responsible for maintaining the performance of the Ivy Tech vendor management process and other financial systems including oversight of assigned modules. The Business Analyst is a member of the Ivy Tech Finance Systems Administration (ITFSA) team in Ivy Tech’s Business Affairs department.

The ITFSA team is responsible for managing a broad portfolio of Financial applications, integrations, and reports delivered primarily through the various financial system platforms.

The Senior Business Analyst must have a strong financial background with experience of one or more ERP implementation(s) and configuration(s) while maintaining a rigorous commitment to quality, security, and attention to detail.

Major Responsibilities:

Act as the product owner for assigned functional areas: Financials, Budgets, Payroll, Projects, Grants, Procurement, Foundation, Endowments, Fixed Assets and other Workday applications.

Maintain, review, and prioritize backlog with stakeholders while provided recommendations for project management.

Review Business Analysts and peer activities; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management including review of policy documentation.

Lead sessions with key business leaders and stakeholders to deeply understand what business problems we are trying to solve, key questions to be answered, and how the solution developed will fit into the business process to be supported.

Lead interactive design sessions using best practices to effectively solve business problems by providing sample approaches as discussion points.

Provide process and/or alternative solutions and makes recommendations based on cost/benefit and operational impact criteria.

Manage project schedules and identify/communicate risks by providing timely reporting on the overall project success, processes on targets achieved and areas of focus and improvement.

Work with Quality Assurance to ensure adequate testing.

Own and drive escalated issues blocking production success.

Effectively use sound business judgment, risk avoidance and SME resources to provide recommendations to campus business offices to solve problems.

Provide functional oversight of technical integrations.

Back up to Finance Systems Architect as needed.

Configure and Support Ivy Tech’s implementation and ongoing development of Workday Banking, Fixed Assets, Expenses, and other Workday applications as applicable

Gather, document, and analyze business requirements from internal customers and stakeholders to define and build system modifications and enhancement.

Acquire in-depth knowledge of Ivy Tech’s business to identify opportunities for improving internal processes, driving efficiencies and providing in depth analysis to end users.

Develop documentation of systems including but not limited to job aids, training manuals, and video guides.

Act as a point of contact for the internal business user(s).

Configure and support the bi-annual Workday upgrade processes, including evaluating and testing new functionality

Participate in interactive design sessions using best practices to effectively solve business problems by providing sample approaches as discussion points.

Conduct root cause analysis to determine an appropriate action plan for break/fix and support issues.

Draft and revise - Business Affairs policies and procedures based upon new system requirements and functionality due to the Workday Implementation and ongoing innovation of owned modules.

Build and support Workday reports using various Workday reporting tools (Report Writer, Discovery Boards, Worksheets)

Develop partnerships with other Ivy Tech Workday module analysts, users, and/or administrators

Assist by using sound business judgment, risk avoidance and SME resources to coordinate with campus business offices to solve problems.

Act as a named support contact with Workday.

Develop and provide training to end-users.

Research, collaborate and contribute to the Workday community user groups.

Some travel may be required within the state.

Provide functional support of technical integrations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college/university.

Minimum 5 years of business analysis, technical business analysis &/or project management.

Strong foundation in analytical and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Demonstrate the ability to analyze and document processes, procedures, etc.

Have a strong foundation in customer service mentality with excellent communication skills.

Excellent documentation skills (samples of nonproprietary documentation maybe be asked for review).

Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a background and/or experience in computer science, finance, or accounting.
