Job Description:

This Senior Business Analyst provides direct support to all Dining applications to meet the ongoing needs of all operational aspects of Dining Services including first tier support to Dining Services staff, customers and departments.  This position is responsible for configuring, evaluating, implementing, managing, and supporting the use of technologies, including ongoing application assessments, implementation of additional modules and interfaces, upgrades, testing, optimization, and training. This position is responsible for developing reports and dashboards used to leadership to manage all Dining operations.  The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with Office of Information Technology (OIT) on application administration. The Senior Business Analyst will supervise the work of one full-time employee.

Major Responsibilities:

-Direct business support of daily operations to Dining staff including data integrations between applications    

  • Provide direct support to all Dining staff with their use of all applications, including NorthStar, CBoard, Catertrax and Workday.
  • Act as tier 1 support (first help to customers) to troubleshoot problems with applications and specialized hardware in support of Point of Sale / entry to meals before engaging CIS for tier 2 technical support
  • Understand and support all data integrations between Dining applications and other university systems
  • Coordinate with the Bursarâ™s Office on issues related to student billing and allocating costs from the meal plan management system to the student accounts
  • Coordinate with the Brown Card Office and Financial Services on issues related to vending and beverage machines, declining balance account usage for retail, and reconciliation
  • Improve customer service by ensuring that customer facing applications are configured for ease of use, including mobile ordering and web portals

- Configure all applications used in Dining Services to meet operational needs

  • Configure all the applications used by Dining Services including meal plans, retail operations, Point of Sale and credit card processing, retail operations, and the Faculty Club
  • Liaison to Dining staff in support of business processes related to meal plan contracts, billing, plan usage, nutrition, purchasing, meal production, and the Faculty Club, including creation and maintenance of test plans
  • Liaison to CIS application administrators who support the infrastructure and integrations
  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements application upgrades and additional modules/interfaces as needed

- Develop application test plans and support testing efforts.  Provide documentation on functional aspects of applications. 

  • Help build and maintain regression test plans for every application in Dining, partnering with the business owners and users to do so
  • Support and train all departmental users in the use of applications by developing and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Write SQL queries as necessary.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports from all systems to support operational or analytic requests as necessary.
  • Help to develop and maintain reports and metrics to evaluate business operations
  • Help to develop and maintain operational dashboards for the benefit of Dining leadership
  • Decision-making data are readily accessible to management

- Support reporting needs of the department.  Works with Dining leadership to understand their reporting needs and develop reports and dashboards to drive decision making. 

  •  Use built-in reporting capabilities of applications to meet business needs
  • Produce ad-hoc reports from applications to support operational or analytic requests as necessary
  • Write SQL queries as necessary
  • Help to develop and maintain reports and metrics to evaluate business operations
  • Help to develop and maintain operational dashboards for the benefit of Dining leadership
  • Decision-making data are readily accessible to management

- Participate in project management

  • Fully participate in all Dining projects that have operational impact or involve IT applications
  • Evaluate IT needs and impact as new applications are considered and as operational needs change
  • Maintains a current knowledge of products and industry trends through software/hardware documentation, training, user conferences, and peer contacts
  • Leverage IT standards to improve internal business processes for running successful projects

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and 2-4 years of experience supporting enterprise-level business applications and providing business analytics

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with support of enterprise foodservice, university housing, or retail POS preferred
  • Working knowledge of relational data bases required
  • Troubleshooting skills for a host of peripherals (POS devices, credit card peripherals, etc.) preferred
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking preferred
  • Knowledge of IT change management processes preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service required
  • Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills required
  • Project planning skills preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team required
  • Possesses a willingness to promote an inclusive and diverse campus community
  • Excellent coordination, collaboration, writing, and verbal communication skills required
