Senior Biologics Manager

The R&D Manufacturing Process Development team is looking for a Senior Biologics Development Manager. The ideal candidate has a passion for bringing innovative products to the market and understands what it takes to bring large molecules to commercialization. The successful applicant will be a strategic leader and will prioritize development of scientific staff. They will apply their knowledge and experience in both upstream and downstream bioprocess development to a rapidly paced new product development engine. Help build a next generation design to development platform that can rapidly turn biologics into products which are “Advancing the health and well-being of pets, people, and livestock”.

What will you do as the Senior Biologics Manager?

  • You will guide both upstream and downstream bioprocess development for the selection, cell line development, scale-up, and transfer of biologics (eg monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins).
  • You will creatively utilize advances in machine learning and predictive analytics to build workflows that drive large molecule selection using manufacturability criteria.
  • You will partner with the large molecule and small molecule analytics teams to harness data from advanced analytical measurements (eg techniques in liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, SPR, etc) to build process control strategies.
  • You will stay current in the field and apply advances in technology to accelerate development timelines and solve technical challenges.
  • You will collaborate with your internal and external network to reach business goals.
  • You will drive programs to meet milestone deliverables by providing clear direction to the team.
  • You will develop team members by providing timely and effective guidance and mentorship.
  • You will gain commitment and support for decisions, skillfully utilize change management techniques, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • You will build and sustain organizational respect and trust at all levels.

What do you need to succeed?

  • PhD with 8+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with 5-7+ years of management experience.
  • Technical areas of relevance include upstream and downstream bioprocess, protein engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular modeling, molecular biology.
  • Experience in protein modeling, antibody engineering, in-silico protein analysis tools, and/or the use of predictive analytics for developability and manufacturability assessment are highly desirable.
  • Advanced organizational skills: capable of managing and prioritizing a large number of projects and tasks at various stages of development.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, test, documentation and quality requirements for in-vitro diagnostic products.
  • Result orientation and a sense of urgency to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner.
  • Project management skills with knowledge of all phases of project management and the use of project management tools.
  • Strong scientific documentation and meeting management skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with all employee levels.
