Job Overview

The McCourt School’s Tech & Public Policy program seeks to connect and grow McCourt’s academic programs and expertise to address the challenges and opportunities of our ever-evolving digital society - from our Massive Data Institute, which serves as a hub for researchers in government, academia and industry to use new and traditional large-scale data sources to solve societal-scale problems, and our Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy program, which prepares students with the skills to inform data-driven policy, to courses in public interest technology, cyber conflict and security, and big data and artificial intelligence. This portfolio of internal clients also includes Georgetown University and the McCourt School’s partnership with Project Liberty’s Institute , an independent organization, to further scholarship from University experts on the use of technology to further the common good.

The Senior Associate of Web & Digital Communications, in collaboration with the Strategic Communications and Events team, develops and implements digital communications, including original website content, social media posts, email design, and the development and deployment in support of the McCourt School’s emerging Tech & Public Policy program; and manages other web and digital communications projects at the McCourt School.

They manage all of the McCourt School’s web properties and are responsible for content updates to the McCourt website, accessibility compliance, quality assurance, analytics, and management of any web platform changes.  As well, they manage McCourt’s presence on other web platforms, including the “Inside McCourt” intranet and GUFaculty360 web pages.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, the Senior Associate for Web & Digital Communications collaborates extensively with the Director and staff of McCourt’s Tech & Public Policy program, and with the McCourt School Strategic Communications and Events team.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in writing, digital content creation and website management
  • Familiarity with the use of WordPress (Georgetown University’s CMS) and Constant Contact (the McCourt School’s CRM)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence for effective interactions working with both internal and external clients and individuals, including top technology and policy experts, and key external partners
  • Ability to work independently, assuming responsibility, prioritizing and carrying out duties with minimum supervision
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communications skills; and the ability to articulate the needs, interests, and accomplishments of the McCourt School to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple “priority” projects and to set and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in technology communications
  • Ability to create short-form video content for social media
