The Shriver Center The Choice Program at UMBC , housed within The Shriver Center, provides mentoring and advocacy services to young people - primarily Black and Latinx -throughout central Maryland. Choice utilizes a community-based, family-centered approach to promote high quality outcomes for young people and families. The Choice program engages in a collaborative process of service: where young people set goals for themselves and are supported by caring adults along the way. Choice's approach to youth development is grounded in applied critical race theory and culturally responsive, trauma-informed, restorative practices. Choice strives to be an anti-racist organization grounded in several core values: holistic development, the belief in humans, and youth-centeredness. |

Position Overview: |
The Senior Associate Director leads two youth-serving programs. The overarching program goals are to disentangle young people from the youth legal system and to strengthen ties to the community through increased educational and vocational opportunities. |
