Job Function
Reporting to the Vice Provost, Academic Research and Centers, the Senior Associate Director, Post Award Administration and Compliance Officer manages the post award administration for sponsored programs at the College. The Senior Associate Director will ensure compliance with post award policies for the College’s externally-funded grant and sponsored programs and serve as the primary liaison between the Finance office, faculty, college administrators, sponsored research office, and funding agencies for all post award management issues. The Senior Associate Director will support faculty and staff in the management of externally-funded projects and oversee day-to-day post award administration. The assistant director will be a key member of the Provost’s office and will also be responsible for monitoring the reporting schedules and post award administration of select institutional grants to the College from both private and government sources.

Position Summary Information


Essential Duties Summary
  • Reporting to the Vice Provost, Academic Research and Centers and working closely with the Director and Sr. Assoc. Director of Sponsored Research and the Sponsored Research team on key aspects of post-award grant administration. Also coordinates with other Barnard offices (Finance, the HR, IRB, etc.) as needed;
  • Manages grant acceptance process and reviews grant agreements; Manages new grant orientation meetings;
  • Assists in the drafting and management of subaward agreements and monitoring; Manages FFATA reporting;
  • Manages FCOI training and annual reporting process;
  • Manages compliance around IRB and IACUC documentation;
  • Tracks and files compliance documentation in Cayuse;
  • Helps PIs with technical reports to sponsors;
  • Helps PIs review spending reports from Workday for accuracy;
  • Manages quarterly grant check-in process with active PIs;
  • Works with Finance to monitor grant spending and re-budgeting;
  • Manages institutional registration and reporting to SAM, OHRP, etc.
  • Works with PIs on post-award notifications and requests, such as no-cost extensions;
  • Coordinates with and refers PIs to other offices in charge of grant administration;
  • Monitors reporting schedule for select institutional grants with faculty PIs, acts as liaison between Institutional Funding and Sponsored Research and the Finance team on institutional grant post award spending.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required Qualification Summary
Undergraduate degree with at least three years of relevant experience in post-award grants management or related higher education or non-profit work.  Experience with Workday and/or Cayuse preferred.
