Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications & Marketing, the Senior Associate Director of Marketing Project Management is a leader in Advancement responsible for managing project workload, strategy, and delivery.

As the expert on process, project pipeline, project onboarding, and workload distribution, the Senior Associate Director ensures all project deliverables are completed on-time, on-budget, and appropriately map to the strategic priorities of each internal client, University Advancement, and Boston College. The person in this role leads a team that facilitates these aspects of the Communications and Marketing team's operations. It is expected that this individual will play an active and critical role managing most of the Division's key initiatives, fundraising campaigns, and events.
This position works hand-in-hand with members of the University Advancement Communications & Marketing's content, creative, and digital teams to ensure strategic alignment and delivery of projects to promote the overall institutional goals related to philanthropy and engagement. The Senior Associate Director will also partner closely with other teams within Advancement to ensure excellence in all marketing and communication projects, and to evaluate the success of those efforts.
Primary Duties:

  • Lead and develop a team of marketing and communications professionals
  • Provide strategic marketing guidance to colleagues in Communications & Marketing and throughout University Advancement in an effort to exceed fundraising and participation goals
  • Partner closely with the Director and other Senior Associate Directors in Communications & Marketing to facilitate project intake and assign project teams
  • Manage complex timelines, tactics, and overall project workflow of key fundraising campaigns, initiatives, and events, including maintaining their own portfolio of projects and partners
  • Perform quality control on all projects to maintain the highest standards
  • Continually assess resources, capacity, and workflow across all of Communications & Marketing, and make adjustments to project plans, teams, and portfolios where necessary
  • Ensure that all team members have the required information and resources to carry out their tasks effectively
  • Lead the implementation and on-going use of project management tools and resources across all of Communications & Marketing; establish and help enforce best practices in project management
  • Facilitate working groups, task forces, and other team-based efforts across all of University Advancement when appropriate
  • Help lead the analysis and assessment of campaign performance

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $90,100 to $112,650; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of experience in project management and/or marketing communications, preferably in a higher-ed or large non-profit setting
  • Proven leadership & outstanding communication skills
