Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC is recruiting for a full-time, permanent Senior Archaeologist/Cultural Resources Team Lead for our New Orleans, LA Office. Hybrid work schedule is possible.
Responsibilities:

The position will work with other environmental and cultural resources staff to further develop TRCs cultural resource program in Louisiana and the surrounding region. The successful candidate will supervise and when necessary, perform all aspects of archaeological investigations (e.g., Phase I, II, and III); assist in managing agency and client relationships, marketing, and proposal development; assist, supervise, and advise other cultural resources staff; and direct and manage large and complex cultural resources projects.

Technical work may include a wide range of projects including renewable energy projects, oil and gas development, electric transmission and generation, natural gas or liquid pipelines, mining, and state or federal transportation projects. The position will require travel and the ability to conduct site visits and/or attend client meetings.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in anthropology, archaeology, history, architectural history, historic preservation, architecture, or closely related field.
  • 8 or more years of progressive experience in the archaeology and/or architectural history of Louisiana and the surrounding region.
  • Experience managing cultural resources staff.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental review processes, and compliance requirements (e.g., Section 106 and state-level regulations).
  • In addition to Louisiana, previous permitting experience in the Gulf Coast states is preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, peer-reviewing, public speaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets and producing high quality reports.
  • A commitment to safety.
  • Familiarity with digital data recording and management.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to drive trucks w/ trailers; and
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
