Position Summary
The Senior Advisor in Student-Athlete Academic Services is responsible for providing academic support services for undergraduate student-athletes. This position will have a particular emphasis for working with the football team along with another NCAA Division I team , and with student-athletes from underrepresented populations at Bryant. This position will report to the Associate Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services. This is a 12 month full-time position with excellent benefits.

Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to provide academic support services for student-athletes, including tutoring, study hall, registration assistance, and referrals to campus services. 
  • Monitor degree progress and NCAA eligibility for assigned student-athletes, along with serving as an NCAA eligibility certifying officer.
  • Meet regularly with and monitor progress of assigned at-risk student-athletes 
  • Help with setting up accommodations for student-athletes through Accessibility Services
  • Serve as liaison among faculty, coaches and academic support staff/advising 
  • Assist student-athletes during priority registration 
  • Support athlete academic advisors along with any undergraduate interns 
  • Maintain close communication with Undergraduate Advising, particularly on policies and practices related to student-athletes 
  • Plan and conduct workshops for student-athletes, especially as the students transition to college 
  • Coordinate and oversee nominations of student athletes for academic awards and honors 
  • Review incoming transfer student-athletes on eligibility and graduation plans 
  • Meet with prospective student-athletes during campus visits 
  • Perform others duties as assigned by the Associate Director
  • Qualifications
    • Master’s degree required in related field.
    • At least two years’ full-time experience within advising in a higher education setting, and understanding of the specific needs of at-risk student-athletes. 
    • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
    • Experience with coordinating programs and activities
    • Experience with NCAA Division I academic certification, eligibility of incoming transfers, and student-athlete academic support planning. 
    • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
    • Must be able to work in time sensitive, fast-paced and demanding environment
    • Ability to manage a high volume of workload during the academic year
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
