The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Office of Admissions invites applicants for the Senior Admissions Counselor position. About the Department:

The CEHD Office of Admissions (OOA) exists to generate awareness and interest in academic offerings at the College and provide a superior service experience to prospective students resulting in improved enrollment outcomes.  In addition, the office provides marketing and recruitment support services and systems to programs and divisions to ensure alignment with best practice and integration with broader recruitment and marketing efforts to optimize effectiveness.  To accomplish this, the CEHD OOA is organized into four functional areas—admissions operations, pre-education advising, enrollment marketing, and student recruitment.  
Responsibilities:

The Senior Admissions Counselor, reporting to the Assistant Director of Recruitment, is a critically important at the College with responsibility for a variety of tasks and functions related to new student recruitment—
  • Primarily responsible for the execution of outbound phone outreach to, and in person and virtual admissions consultation with, prospective graduate and, to a lesser extent, undergraduate students (60% of position);
  • Support the Assistant Director of Recruitment in planning and execution of recruitment outreach and programming, as needed, including participation in fall and spring open houses and other large-scale recruitment event, and graduate recruitment travel throughout the region;   
  • Assist the pre-education advising function with the office by executing triage consultations, when needed, and support the planning and execution 1 to 2 recruitment events specifically for educator licensure programs at the College (Teacher Track) per academic year; and  
  • Maintain awareness of new courses, programs, services, and policies at both the college and, more broadly, university optimize effectiveness as a student recruiter.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in student recruitment and demonstrated success in meeting enrollment objectives;
  • Experience using Salesforce (TargetX) or other customer relationship management platforms to support student recruitment;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills; and
  • Requires some weekend work (very limited), as well as 2 evenings a week (not to exceed a 40-hour/week commitment overall).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working in graduate student recruitment for a private and/or entrepreneurial institution.
