Job Description

The Senior Administrative Coordinator I provides administrative support for the Nuclear Engineering & Science Center (NESC) to include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates administrative support functions of the NESC, especially with respect to the office and functions of the Executive Director. Plans and coordinates administrative activities and services. Plans work and determines work priorities. Develops administrative objectives and strategies.
  • Coordinates NESC planning activities with the NESC Executive Director. Supports team building and collaboration development activities. Manages calendar schedule and some communications for the Executive Director.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of NESC administrative operations. This includes communications, scheduling, and monitoring or leading active projects. Participates in the resolution of operating problems.
  • Support administrative research tasks, including report preparation and formatting, proposal compilation and submission, interface with sponsors, and manage research team communications. Participates in the resolution of operating problems.
  • Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Performs special analyses and project summaries. Prepares and reviews operational and special reports. Makes recommendations for process improvements, administrative changes, or new initiatives.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of administrative operations. Participates in the resolution of operating problems. (Employment records, communication with TEES, etc.).
  • Plans and coordinates meetings, seminars, and other special events.
  • Serves as office manager.
  • May supervise assigned staff.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Six years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
  • Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize objectives with a high level of discretion and independent judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to support administrative research tasks, including report formatting and preparation, proposal compilation and submission, interface with sponsors, and manage research team communications.
