Senior Administrative Assistant, National Security Sciences Directorate

Overview:  

 

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant who will focus on supporting the National Security Sciences Directorate (NSSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) with administrative tasks and sponsor visits.

 

As part of our team, you will support one or more individuals on the NSSD leadership team with calendaring, travel requests, organizing and planning sponsor meetings and events, as well as other basic duties. This position will require close collaboration with the Associate Lab Director’s office and NSSD program offices.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

 

  • Managing and navigating calendars for one or more members of the leadership team.
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing visits and events.
  • Reserving and preparing leadership for business and conference travel
  • Navigate ORNL systems and perform basic administrative duties.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with seven years of administrative experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AS degree in Business or Office Management related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

 

Q clearance:  This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
