Job Summary

The Senior Administrative Assistant will provide support to student life staff at Purdue University in Indianapolis, including the associate dean of students, student support generalists, residence life, and counseling staff. Oversee reception area for the student life office and manages appointments and walk-in traffic. Will perform business office functions for student activities and organizations. This position will support student activities and organizations and student support services, and may require occasional evening or weekend hours to support student events.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative support role

 

Skills:
Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
  • Drafting, proofreading and editing skills

  • This was formerly classified as an operational/technical position; an internal lateral transfer will retain same benefit standing
