Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Senior Administrative Assistant (Engineering) .

Provide administrative assistance to the Engineering Department.

Duties/Responsibilities 

• Assist department chair with correspondence, forms, reports, and memos.
• Answer telephone and route calls appropriately; sort all incoming mail and orders.
• Answer inquiries and provide guidance to students, faculty, and visitors.
• Assist students and faculty with registration and advising.
• Assist in the preparation of academic schedules and ongoing schedule modifications.
• Assist in the preparation of faculty schedules and load reports.
• Assist in ordering office supplies and class materials and maintaining inventory of supplies.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of credit card purchases.
• Assist with event scheduling including room reservations, food orders, and event promotion.
• Attend meetings and when appropriate, take minutes for distribution to faculty and future accreditation reviewers.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years' office experience or a combination of office experience and college coursework required.
  • Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic mail required.
  • Must possess strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of internal and external individuals required.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Professional working knowledge of multiple software packages, including Windows 10, preferred.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements


  • Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
